The keyfob batteries seem to last no more than a year before the car reports "keyfob battery empty". Sometimes, not even a year. I've tried both fobs for my car, same issue with both. Dealer tells me this is normal and they offer battery replacement at no charge. Nice, but inconvenient to make a trip to the dealer for a $1.59 battery.
Locate the battery compartment on your key fob. It is usually on the back or side of the fob. Using a small screwdriver or a coin, gently pry open the battery compartment cover. Be careful not to damage the cover or surrounding plastic. Once the cover is open, you will see the old battery.
