It is either a bug, or a feature (I'm not sure on either) where OFTEN, the faction leader, or their number 2 in charge (Monchug, mesui example..) can't be Immediately ransomed. You can just go to tavern and ransom everyone. But can't do it individually. They also have no ARROW, to assign them to YOUR dungeon (or push to the sell side in tavern 1st rule: don't kill people from Minor factions. and to answer your question, if you don't want to execute so many but want to eliminate a faction, don't eliminate any and they should desert to another faction. Once you create your own kingdom by means of main history line, war will become a fact: so avoid the quest till you are fully ready and capable. #9.

If you can, try to imprison at least one lord if the enemy. Fill your party with High-End troops. If you have not enough, recruit as many as possible and hunt looters, auto-resolve the battle. For whatever reason, looters will never kill any troops of yours, but every battle will level up at least a couple troops.
