Today i upgraded my pc to a RTX 3060 and Ryzen 7 5700x from a 1650 4gb and 3600x. For some reason while booting alyx for the first time it keeps crashing after a little while in the north star section to be precise. Checking event viewer some of the errors include- vrwebhelper.exe, steamtours.exe, OculusDash.exe.
Unbearable Stuttering Oculus Quest 2. Using a link cable with my Oculus Quest 2 headset I get terrible stuttering. This wasn't as much of an issue in the beginning of the game, although it was still present. I'm at Chapter 6 of Alyx now and it's getting really bad. I can't use airlink or virtual desktop as I don't have access to my own router
The most important thing to playing any Steam VR game on an Oculus headset is to set the resolution down to 100% in Steam VR. By default Steam VR sets the render resolution for each game to "auto" which results in a render resolution WAY too high. When you open the game, hold the button to open the steam vr menu.
Opinion: I know Half-Life: Alyx was meant to be a pioneer in the world of VR and it clearly is, but a lot of Half-Life fans are missing out on a new game because they don't own a VR headset, Valve should try to release a regular version.
The hype was so big that lots of people did buy VR just for the game, they even sold out of VR headsets because of how many bought in. IMO the game is great and I'm glad Valve keep pushing the staple, a thing a lot of people forget is that the leap from Half Life 1 - 2 people were saying the same shit about how they'll need to spend hundreds on
