People parrot the map thing over and over and I'm not sure how much it actually matters in this case. I knew about the map thing going in, I've played both FC4 and Primal, and it didn't really affect the game negatively at all. That said, there's still nothing really keeping it from being as repetitive as any other Far Cry game though.
Primal is the most unique Far Cry game ever conceived. It uses Far Cry 4's (updated) engine and mechanics to explore the age of hunter-gatherers within a franchise where you hunt (beasts/men) and gather (herbs/skins) as the basic gameplay loop. A perfect fit!
